Carlos Bricio, a Madrid-based music producer, has a career shaped by his early love for rock legends like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Cream, paired with a fascination for film scores from Star Wars and Back to the Future. This diverse musical upbringing led Carlos to discover his passion for music production during his early days as a drummer.

Carlos’s first love was the drums. As a student, he played in school bands, eventually transitioning to studio work. “The first time I recorded in a studio, I was hooked,” he shares. That fascination with sound production inspired him to study at Abbey Road Institute, where he mastered his craft while working as a senior technician and lecturer. These experiences sharpened not just his technical skills but his ability to guide artists through the creative process.

His approach is unique: Carlos combines his background in science with his musical intuition. This blend helps him tackle projects from fresh angles, balancing the technical precision of production with the raw emotion of performance. His perspective as a musician—he’s been a drummer, percussionist, and even a vocalist—means he deeply understands the challenges artists face in the studio. “My goal is to create an environment where the artist feels free to focus on their creativity. That’s when the magic happens.”

Carlos’s musical palette is broad, spanning rock, pop, reggae, jazz, and folk, but he’s always open to exploring new sounds. He finds inspiration everywhere, from Lady Gaga to Dream Theater and Hans Zimmer. His current obsession? Chapell Roan’s Pink Pony Club. “It’s important to keep listening to new music,” he says. “Understanding what makes a track great keeps you sharp as a producer.”

For Carlos, the studio is more than a workspace—it’s a place for collaboration and connection. “Sharing the love for music and getting inspired by one another makes the process special,” he says. Whether he’s working with emerging artists like Chandran and Misdom or experimenting with microphone setups to create unforgettable recordings, Carlos pours himself into every project.

His advice for aspiring producers is simple but powerful: “Collaborate, experiment, and stay curious.” He believes that the journey is just as important as the final product.
