Zrison, a four-piece band based in Madrid, blends indie rock, alternative, and pop rock into a unique soundscape defined by abstract lyrics and evocative emotions. Their music, a fusion of genres like indie rock and alternative, with touches of synth-driven rhythms, transports listeners to a nostalgic past where everything seemed better.

The band officially took shape in December 2022, though the groundwork began in 2019. After some lineup changes, the group solidified with Eva on vocals, Paco on guitar, Isma on bass, and Tony on drums. Since then, Zrison has performed across Spain, gaining momentum and preparing for the release of their debut album in 2025. With support from Polar Management, they have embarked on two successful tours and are now setting their sights on new musical experiments and directions.

When it comes to songwriting, Zrison embraces a collaborative and organic approach. Band members often work on individual ideas at home before bringing them into the studio, where the songs take on their final form. Eva’s abstract, emotionally charged lyrics—focused on existential crises, relationships, frustrations, and new beginnings—add depth to their tracks. Their influences range from iconic indie and alternative acts like Foals, Paramore, The Killers, Rufus T. Firefly, and Viva Suecia to British indie sounds.

Zrison prides itself on its DIY ethos. They’ve transformed their rehearsal space into a recording studio where they can experiment without time constraints. For the mixing and mastering of their recent tracks, they’ve enlisted the help of their friend José Peinado, who brings their music to life with a professional finish.

The band’s journey has been marked by several important milestones. Touring various cities across Spain and the chance to record a live concert—now available on YouTube—stand out as pivotal moments. As they look ahead to 2025, Zrison plans to make significant changes to their live performances and overall sound. While they may play fewer gigs, they aim to deliver higher-quality shows, showcasing new songs from their upcoming LP.

Offstage, Zrison’s camaraderie shines through. The band members, like any close-knit group of friends, enjoy grabbing a drink together (though Paco sticks to Coca-Cola) and attending concerts by other emerging or lesser-known bands. Some of the members also work on other musical projects professionally or as a hobby, adding to their creative synergy.

Zrison is passionate about supporting smaller, independent bands and encourages fans to explore the music scene beyond mainstream offerings. They know firsthand how difficult it is to stand out in today’s oversaturated music industry, but they believe it’s worth taking the time to discover lesser-known acts striving to make their mark. As they say, “All the bands you idolize today were once small and unknown to the world.”

For anyone looking to catch them live, Zrison’s next show will be on November 1st in Gandía, Valencia, at Pub Dublin. After that, the band will be focusing on finishing their new album, with a full schedule of events planned for 2025.

And one last piece of advice from the band: “Never play a gig in Murcia if it coincides with a Melendi concert. You’ll find parking 15 minutes before hitting the stage! But seriously, play in Murcia—it’s an incredible place with an amazing crowd.”
