We’re thrilled to feature Grim Paradise as the first band in Communication Breakdown! Hailing from Madrid, this four-piece band brings a unique blend of powerful alternative rock and a stunning visual aesthetic inspired by the Mexican Día de los Muertos. Combining captivating music with a vibrant, immersive stage presence, Grim Paradise is all about delivering more than just a concert—they offer an experience that transports you to another world, both musically and visually.

The Band

Verónica Almería: Vocals

Noe Cooper: Guitar

Andrés Pujazón: Bass

Tom Gómez: Drums

Founded in 2016, Grim Paradise evolved from casual jam sessions between lead singer Verónica and guitarist Noe, who met years earlier playing covers in Madrid’s Plaza de España. What began as a side project soon became something much more, evolving through different lineups and musical styles before settling into the current dynamic quartet.

Grim Paradise’s music is rich with the influences of iconic 2000s rock bands like Evanescence, Paramore, Green Day, and Muse, blended with the timeless flair of legends like Queen. However, don’t be too quick to pin them down. The band prides itself on having a sound that’s familiar yet hard to define, creating something that feels personal and fresh. Noe often brings the initial ideas for songs, but recently, the band’s creative process has become a collaborative effort, with their tracks evolving in rehearsals. This collaborative energy is reflected in their powerful compositions.

What really sets Grim Paradise apart is their commitment to turning their live shows into a full sensory experience. When you step into one of their gigs, you’re not just hearing great music—you’re stepping into their world. With faces painted like catrinas and stages decorated with flowers, tombstones, and glowing lights, Grim Paradise draws you into a celebration of life and death.

2023 has been a breakthrough year for the band, with milestones that include performing at their first major festival, playing on a massive stage at the Wizink Center, and recording their debut album. While they’re used to performing in intimate venues around Madrid, these larger shows have opened up new opportunities and audiences, marking the next step in their musical journey.

Beyond music, the members of Grim Paradise are creatively active in other ways. Noe is a talented illustrator, responsible for all the art on their social media. Verónica brings her love of dance and acting into the band’s performances, while Tom is studying marketing and Andrés works in voiceover. Their diverse passions and interests contribute to the unique energy they bring to their music and their performances.
